Junior Crafts

Arts and craft by children and young people aged up to 17 years.

Year after year the support shown to the junior artwork section is staggering. With over 1000 entries from children of all ages, it really is a fabulous showcase of the talent our local young people have. Each year the categories are devised with a few topical themes in mind.  This year’s themes include The Olympics, Blackpool’s 125th anniversary and 400years of William Shakespeare. The art projects focus on a wide range of skills and media, from textiles to fine art and digital media. There really is something for everyone. All information on the classes and how to enter can be found on the show schedule on our website and Facebook page.

As this is my first year as chair of the junior section, I am particularly excited to see all the
amazing entries on display in the marquee. Thank you to the local schools, nurseries,
childminders, and families for your continued support and thank you to our sponsors Longridge Gallery and AVJ Designs.

I hope you all enjoy visiting the marquee and celebrating the hard work that our local children
have put into this year’s show.

The Crocodile by Lewis Carroll

How doth the little crocodile,
Improve his shining tail,
And pour the waters of the Nile,
On every golden scale!
How cheerfully he seems to grin,
How neatly spreads his claws,
And welcomes little fishes in,
With gently smiling jaws!

A Midsummer Nights Dream by William Shakespeare Oberon Act II, sc I
I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine:
There sleeps Titania sometime of the night,
Lulled in these flowers with dances and delight
